Using Privacy Scanner
Privacy Scanner is a Mac app that scans your files locally for personal data, metadata, and AI-provenance markers, and helps you remove them. The full version is a one-time purchase for personal use, tied to your Apple Account.
Purchases and refunds
Privacy Scanner is sold through the Apple App Store. Purchases, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple under the terms you agreed to with Apple. The license for the app itself is Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, unless stated otherwise.
No warranty
Privacy Scanner is provided “as is.” It detects a wide range of personal data and AI-provenance markers, but no scanner catches everything, and detection depends on what your files actually contain. You are responsible for reviewing results before you rely on them.
Not legal advice or certification
Privacy Scanner supports privacy and compliance work such as EU AI Act Article 50 or GDPR data-minimization reviews. It does not replace that work, and it does not provide legal advice. AI identification is best-effort and is not a legal certification of authorship. Compliance with any law remains your responsibility.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Privacy Scanner and its developer are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the app. Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
Privacy
Privacy Scanner processes everything on your device and has no network access. See our Privacy page for details.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the current version is always on this page. Questions: support@privacyscanner.app. These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without affecting mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
